Job description:
  • You will lead the R&D Excellence team Chocolate and Coatings & Fillings (C&F) on the location Moeskroen
  • Responsible for managing the support by the pilot and application lab, Technical Services support employees and knowledge specialists (e.g. sensory, raw materials) for building and defending business supporting the product line strategies
  • Build up to date knowledge and technology scouting in the areas of raw materials, processing equipment and sensory
  • Ensure smooth execution of the knowledge project portfolio and flawless transfer into the Technical Services Field organizations
  • Ensure flawless operation of pilot and application lab, developing and managing the Innovation lab asset management strategy for Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate and in partnership with the R&D job family
  • Understand customer needs and PL strategies and translate these into tangible knowledge programs
  • Cooperate with and leverage the capabilities of the various Technical Service, R&D and Application teams in Cargill across the various Product Groups
  • Responsible for the technical management of Key Account Suppliers (raw materials & equipment) and for the relations with universities and institutes
  • Member of the R&D management team of Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate EMEA and Moeskroen Site Management team and contribute to strategy development and execution
  • Build and develop a high performing team that is technically trained and resourced to meet future demands

 


Your Principal Accountabilities:

Business Management

  • Build, manage, execute and deliver on knowledge programs to support the Technical Services Field teams of Chocolate and Coating & Fillings to excel
  • Ensure flawless operation of pilot and application lab in order to get samples on-time-in-full to customers
  • Translate Product Group Strategy into operational and asset management plan for the Technical Service Excellence team Chocolate and Coatings & Fillings, with close collaboration with R&D Job family
  • Leverage knowledge generated from knowledge programs to maximize value creation
  • Contribute to SKU and product portfolio management in cooperation with Product Line management
  • Collaborate within PG Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate, Cargill Food & Beverage Ingredients and function partners to maximize value creation to support the Business Unit & PL strategies
  • Ensure compliance to safety, health, environment, legal and IP intellectual property rules, processes and strategies

Customer Partnership

  • Develop the technical supplier relationship, including key R&D decision makers, to understand supplier strategy and needs and transfer these into tangible projects
  • Build Supplier Development Plans together with purchasing
  • Develop relationships and programs together with selected universities and institutes

Talent & Team Management

  • Lead the Technical Service Excellence team Chocolate and Coatings & Fillings on the location Moeskroen
  • Build and lead own team to achieve a high performance team, including strategic work force planning
  • Ensure team members have a targeted development plan and support them in achieving their goals
  • Attract, select, onboard, develop and retain key talent
  • Value and leverage differences

R&D leader

  • Develop knowledge toolboxes with the team to maximize value creation and to support the Technical Services Field teams of Chocolate and Coatings & Fillings
  • Develop and implement best-in-class internal R&D processes & systems aligned with the R&D Job Family strategy
  • Communicate and record knowledge in agreed formats like SFDC
  • Network internally and externally to collect and share common best practices and to leverage technology and knowledge
  • Contribute to the Product Group and Product Line strategies through reporting supplier trends, opportunities and competitive information

 

Qualifications

  • MSc or equivalent in Food Science & Technology or equivalent.
  • 10+ years relevant work experience
  • Demonstrable success as manager
  • Demonstrable success as technical supporter and lab operations excellence
  • Demonstrable success with change management
  • Demonstrable success in networking/ collaboration/ building relationships (internal and external/ cross functional and multi-cultured teams)
  • Experience with basic innovation processes (i.e. project- and portfolio management, ideation, knowledge management, supplier collaboration)
  • Demonstrable success in negotiating matrix organizations and ambiguous situations
  • Demonstrable success in building competitive advantage through technical capabilities re innovation and creative solutions
  • Fluent in spoken and written in English. Preferably spoken as well in another business language preferably French
  • Written and oral communications and presentations
  • Technical reporting, Knowledge Management
  • Technical expertise in area of Chocolate and C&F, relevant methodologies and technology scouting
    Project management
  • Customer relationship management (internal or external /technical tag)
  • Prioritization and time management (self and team)
